Welcome to Save Our Schools
With Additional Funding For Salaries And Student Achievement

The time has come for Nevada's Public Schools to get the attention needed. Nevada ranks at the bottom in per-pupil spending and our educators are tired of the burden they've been forced to bear for years. The future is bleak with a budget crisis looming over Nevada and a budget spending cap. After assessing the political climate in Nevada, we have determined the only way to get additional support for our kids is by asking the people of Nevada to help save our schools. We, the Nevada State Education Association, are proud of our efforts to increase funding for our public schools and are ready to Save Our Schools. Hope you'll join us!

Victory in District Court! Signature Gathering to Begin!

After several months of fighting a law suit brought forth by the gaming industry, the Nevada State Education Association was given the green light to move forward and begin its signature gathering campaign.  By state law, for an initiative petition to be placed on the November ballot, the organizing group must receive the signatures of 10% of the registered voters in all 17 counties across Nevada.  In what assures to be a statewide effort, the NSEA is calling upon all supporters of public education to help qualify the Save Our Schools ballot initiative.

If you would like to help, please print a copy of the petition by clicking on the "Petition Language" tab to the left of this article.  You can have any resident of Nevada sign the petition as long as they are registered to vote.  Also, please remember that once you have gathered your signatures, the petition must be notarized before being returned to NSEA for processing.

Education in Nevada has long been underfunded, and NSEA believes the time has come to deal with this issue. By increasing the amount that gaming currently pays by 3% we can raise $250 million annually that would go to increase education funding.   Public education needs more investment in order to provide a world class education; and you can help Nevada recover from having one of the lowest per-pupil expenditures in the United States.

If you have any questions or concerns please call (800) 248-6732.

Your help with the signature gathering effort is invaluable. Thank you!
